Because the blues is where just about every kind of American music has its roots, we're dedicated to covering a full range of blues styles, from Chicago to New Orleans to boogie woogie to barrelhouse to country blues—and a lot in between. We also play a handful of classic folk-rock tunes, and jazzy arrangements of a few other familiar tunes.
In other words, we play some Muddy Waters, some Howlin' Wolf, some traditional blues tunes, some Clapton, some Allman Brothers, some Beatles, some Willie Dixon. Just about anything from "Moondance" (jazzy) to "For What It's Worth" (folk), from "Seventh Son" (Chicago) to "Junko Partner" (New Orleans).
Just about every other blues band in the world seems to be built around a "screaming" guitar and a shouting vocalist. We're different. In Blue Stone Mojo, piano (or keyboard) is often our main lead instrument. Sometimes the guitar is electric, sometimes its acoustic. We give you a mix of vocal tunes and instrumentals, tight arrangements and creative improvisations. Dynamics are the key thing for us—louder, softer, faster, slower, sweeter, harder. Because sometimes you feel like getting on your feet and dancing, and sometimes you feel like sitting back and grooving. One way or the other, we're sure to get your mojo working!
